Six Flags Great America’s 2025 Attractions Preview

The annual No Coaster Con took place last week. This event sees coaster enthusiasts head to a unique gathering that features no actual roller coasters or rides. Instead, the event focuses on the latest news, announcements, and presentations from theme park owners and public relations representatives, offering attendees a look at what’s coming in the upcoming season.

This year’s No Coaster Con was held at the Hyatt Place O’Hare Airport, just outside Chicago, Illinois. The event was hosted by Six Flags Great America, a park located about 30 minutes north of the venue. Six Flags Great America used the occasion to unveil exciting details about their highly anticipated B&M dive coaster, Wrath of Rakshasa.

The big news was the coaster’s approach to personal item storage. Instead of traditional lockers, Wrath of Rakshasa will feature a storage conveyor system similar to that of Yukon Striker, another B&M dive coaster located at Canada’s Wonderland. Additionally, Six Flags confirmed that the ride will include a heavily themed queue line. This has been widely speculated by fans, and it’ll be exciting to see what the park comes up with to immerse guests. While an official opening date for Wrath of Rakshasa has yet to be announced, the park is aiming for a Memorial Day Weekend debut.

In addition to the new dive coaster, Six Flags Great America shared updates on several other attractions. The Roaring Rapids water ride and the Sky Trek Tower observation ride are both undergoing repairs, with work expected to be completed soon. Sky Trek Tower was actually struck by lightning a while back, and they recently used a helicopter to replace the motor.

Batman: The Ride, the park’s iconic B&M inverted coaster, is also receiving significant upgrades for the 2025 season. Enhancements include repaired ride audio speakers, new theatrical lighting, six additional fog machines placed throughout the ride, restored and replaced water effects, and a fresh coat of paint. These improvements aim to enhance the immersive experience for guests, something the park continues to do by increasing theming in it’s various lands.

Finally, the Six Flags Great America also announced that they have a new executive chef, as well as new serving lines at Strutters, Yukon BBQ and Steelworks, which are three of the park’s most popular restaurants. There will also be new retail and refreshment stations added throughout the park.

With these announcements, “No Coaster Con” once again delivered a ton of information and excitement for coaster enthusiasts, setting the stage for an eventful 2025 season at Six Flags Great America.
