Universal Orlando Resort Unveils Jurassic World VelociCoaster Details and Teaser Trailer

At long last, Universal Orlando Resort has officially unveiled their new-for-2021 roller coaster, named Jurassic World VelociCoaster. The September 28th announcement was accompanied by a short teaser depicting on and off-ride footage.

The description for this teaser reads: “Two intense launches. Four inversions. Feel the rush of the hunt as you race through the jungle alongside Velociraptors on the Jurassic World VelociCoaster, coming Summer 2021 to Universal Orlando Resort.”

Throughout the video there are various animations of raptors, which ties the coaster to its source material. Jurassic World premiered in 2015 as a soft-reboot of the Jurassic Park franchise. A sequel, titled Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, was released in 2018. The movies feature various raptors that are tamed by Owen Grady (Chris Pratt), the main protagonist of the Jurassic World movies. Pratt, along with fellow co-stars Bryce Dallas Howard and BD Wong, are said to appear during the ride.

Universal has released the following facts about the ride:

  • Two launches, the fastest of which reaches 70 mph in 2.4 seconds.
  • 4 inversions, including a zero-G stall and a barrel roll over the Islands of Adventure lagoon.
  • A “Top Hat” element with a height of 155 ft.
  • 12 seconds of airtime throughout the entire layout.

Jurassic World VelociCoaster will open Summer 2021.
