Well, here we are! The first official Limitless Park blog post! In order to start this thing off with a bang, I want to talk about something that’s been on every theme park enthusiasts mind: New for 2017 roller coasters.
Or the lack thereof. Right now, we’ve heard very little on the topic of new coasters, and it seems to be shaping up to be a slow year. Of course, this could just be preparation for 2018 (Such as Blackpool Pleasure Beach or Liseberg). Nevertheless, there are still a number of new rides that have been announced for next year, and I wanted to give a quick rundown on what they are. Here we go!
THE JOKER- Six Flags Great America, Six Flags Over Texas, and Six Flags New England
Most people are not excited about these S&S Free Spin clones heading to three Six Flags parks as the only coasters in the chain this year. However, I’m actually kind of thrilled that my home park, Six Flags Great America, is receiving a new coaster. It’s better than the Larson Looper I was expecting them to get. As long as it rides well, who cares if it’s a clone! It’s a new coaster that I would be more than happy to ride!
WAVE BREAKER: THE RESCUE COASTER- SeaWorld San Antonio
I am thrilled about this coaster. It seems to be an exciting take on the Turbo Bike coasters, such as the Tron ride that debuted this year in Shanghai Disneyland. This ride will bring a much needed new coaster to what is usually dubbed as the runt of the SeaWorld parks, and will surely be a crowd pleaser. I know we are trying to plan a trip to Texas next year, so hopefully I’ll be able to ride this if/when we go!
INVADR- Busch Gardens Williamsburg, and MYSTIC TIMBERS- Kings Island
I wanted to talk about these two coasters at the same time, as they are both the only GCI wooden coasters coming to the U.S. in 2017 so far. Both look to be promising rides, with plenty of airtime. For whatever reason, I struggle to get excited about new wooden coasters. These two, however, look like they will be very interesting. Especially Mystic Timbers, as it has everyone wondering one thing: What is in the shed?
Well, that’s pretty much it. Told you it would be short. Of course, I didn’t list any of the new international coasters (not that there are many), and there are bound to be more announcements along the way. However, those some of the big ones!
