My Top 5 Favorite Restaurants at Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World: 4 Theme Parks, 2 Water Parks, a shopping district, golf courses, 25+ hotels, and much more….including countless places to eat. In my 9 trips to the house of mouse, I’d say I’ve only eaten at 1/10th of the restaurants they have to offer. Probably even less. That said, I still have my favorites. Top 5 favorites to be exact. Let’s kick it off with number 5.

5. Kona Café

Located in the Polynesian Village Resort is a nice restaurant that’s not Ohana: Kona Café. The thing I like about this restaurant is how open it feels. The room it’s in essentially combines with the rest of the main building, allowing for the Polynesian theming to be seen from inside the restaurant. The food was also pretty good here too. My party ate breakfast there, and the menu had a good selection of both sweet and savory items. I especially recommend trying the Macadamia-Pineapple Pancakes, or the Tonga Toast.

4. The Crystal Palace

Out of all the character breakfasts, this one has to be my favorite. Sure, Chef Mickey offers more traditional characters, but I think that also happens to be its downfall. The Crystal Palace offers a more unique, luxurious setting for character dining. You’ll find characters such as Winnie the Pooh, and a buffet that I’d consider to be far better than what the Contemporary offers at Chef Mickey. All of these perks are topped off by a wonderful, plant-filled building with light shining in from all angles. If I had to choose between this, Ohana, Park Fare, and Chef Mickey’s, The Crystal Palace would easily be crowned winner.

3. Beaches & Cream Soda Shop

Alright, I’ve technically only ever eaten dessert here, but I’m still going to count it. Located at Disney’s Beach Club Resort (my favorite resort) is a little parlor known as Beaches and Cream. They serve some nice sandwiches and burgers, but the real favorite is their awesome selection of sundaes and floats. You can choose from all sorts of flavors, toppings, and more. They also have a variety of shakes and malts, if you’re into that sort of thing. The classic banana split is my personal go-to sundae here, with more than enough ice-cream and toppings to give you a big boost of energy for staying up ’til that 2 am park closing time at the Magic Kingdom! (True story. It was a very, very long sugar rush.)

2. Rose and Crown Pub

Epcot’s World Showcase has a vast selection of cuisines that will satisfy even the pickiest of eaters. Although I love pretty much any type of food, I seem to prefer the UK pavilion’s Rose and Crown more than any other restaurant in the showcase. It has a lot of your common British entrees such as Fish and Chips and Bangers and Mash. The Sheppard’s Pie here is also outstanding. Also, patrons 21 or older will be pleased with the vast selection of alcoholic beverages. Perhaps the best part of this restaurant, though, is it’s prime location for viewing Epcot’s fireworks show, Illuminations. If you manage to get a reservation at night with patio seating, you’ll be sure to get a great view of the show!

1. Yak and Yeti

My favorite restaurant at Walt Disney World is kind of an odd-ball. Yak and Yeti is located in the Asia section of Animal Kingdom, and offers a nice selection of Asian cuisine. Everything from the Pot-Stickers to the Tikka Masala. They also have a decent seafood selection as well, with a special Chef’s Fresh Catch option for people willing to spend a little more.

The reason Yak and Yeti takes my number one isn’t actually for the food though. It’s for the theming. This restaurant is filled with neat artifacts, paintings, statues, pottery, and more. Basically, if you took the awesome queue from Expedition Everest, and blended it with a restaurant, the result would be Yak and Yeti. That’s how fun the atmosphere is. I always make sure to go back to this place at least once a trip, and I’ll continue to do so for as long as I visit Walt Disney World.
