Less preferred are American Eagle, suffering from increasing roughness, and Dark Knight, critiqued for its ‘by-the-numbers’ nature. Personal preference and experience shape these rankings, highlighting the diversity of roller coasters available at this amusement park.

Dollywood to Replace Launch on Lightning Rod with Lift Hill – Coaster will be “Recharged” – September 2023

Dollywood amusement park has announced plans to replace the launch system of its wooden roller coaster, Lightning Rod, with a high-speed lift hill by 2024, in order to improve the ride’s reliability. The park is also adding new trains to the ride. These modifications come in response to the ride’s frequent shutdowns since its opening in 2016. Despite the changes, the top speed of 73 mph will remain the same. Lightning Rod will close after Dollywood’s Harvest Festival on October 30 for the renovations.

Lists have always been an integral part of Limitless Park. Who doesn’t love counting things down? That said, we haven’t written one since the beginning of 2021. To make up for this, we’re starting a new series called “12 Days of Listmas.” I’m sure something similar has been done before–I might even be stealing the “Listmas” name, but I don’t feel like checking–but this is a first for Limitless Park. For 12 days (December 13 – 24) we’ll be bringing you a brand new theme park related list, ranging anywhere from our favorite roller coasters to the different levels of “bad Six Flags food.” We’re getting creative with that last one.
