Most theme parks in the Cedar Fair chain have officially announced their tentative opening dates for 2021. Some are opening earlier than usual, others are later and most are right on-time.
May 22, 2021 — two months later than usual. Although the delayed opening is unfortunate, hopefully it means the park will be open with fewer restrictions in place.
Worlds of Fun
May 22, 2021 — (almost) right on time. The park also plans to open Riptide Raceway waterslide, which was supposed to open in 2020.
May 29, 2021 — A Memorial Day weekend opening date seems normal.
May 14, 2021 — A little earlier than usual. Cedar Point tends to open towards the end of May. It makes sense that they would try to reopen the park earlier though and regain some of the lost revenue.
May 14, 2021 — Also seems a bit early. If one of these opening dates were to get pushed back, this might be it. Then again, Canada is doing much better than the U.S. when it comes to COVID cases.
California’s Great America
May 22, 2021 — It’s a shock that the Northern California park received an opening date at all. State government regulations could impact the way this park opens if it does open, so expect some heavy restrictions on capacity and operations.
May 22, 2021 — Pretty standard opening date. Nothing to see here.
May 22, 2021 — Kings Dominion sometimes opens in late March/early April, so this is pretty late for them. That said, it’s better than not opening for normal operations at all (like last year).
May 8-9, 2021 — These dates are for pass holder previews only. The park has not announced an opening date for the general public at this time.
May 22, 2021 — I’m sick of typing May 22, 2021.
